My Personal Bio:
As long as I can remember I have been overweight. My father was the same way as a child but when he hit puberty he sprang up like a beanstalk and became tall and thin. My family always thought the same thing would happen to me, but it didn't. One of my most horrible "fat" moments was in the 3rd grade where they line everyone up and weigh them with one teacher at the scale and the other writing it down. I will never forget it as the teacher said out loud that I was 110 ½ lbs and the reaction of all my classmates. I was horrified.
Fast forward to my early 20s where I weighed around 325, I remember being on a roller coaster and the bar wouldn't latch. Instead of checking all the bars before it started they checked them as it rolled by. They ended up stopping the car on the up hill ramp and making me get out and walking down the catwalk. Another horrifying moment that sticks with me.
Ive tried basically almost every diet known to man and because of the yo-yo trend that follows I ended up ballooning myself up to 485 lbs. Feeling pretty depressed and desperate but also being strongly against gastric bypass, my Dr suggested that I go to the weight center to get more information. I found out about the gastric band and decided that it was something that might be able to help me. It did help at first and I was able to get down to 395 lbs. Unfortunately, I learned fairly quickly how to “eat” around the band and ended up back in my same old routine and up to 425 lbs. While I ended up better off than I was, I still lacked the dedication or motivation to get my life and health in order.
My Transformation Story:
Fast forward to mid-March 2008, when an idea was formed in a chatroom/webcast to get people involved in getting healthier. My coach’s coach, Jason Scheff, decided to have a challenge to help people take control of their own health. For whatever reason, what I have no idea, I knew that I had to become involved. Not so much for myself but because I felt that if I could do it then anyone could. Apparently it was the switch in my brain that had to be flipped because I began watching what I ate and going to the gym in preparation. I officially began my quest on 27Mar08. I went to the gym each day, starting slowly with 10 minutes a day and building up to 30 minutes a day. I began logging into WOWY and the message boards on 1Apr08 logging my exercise and my accountability on the message boards. On 16Apr08 I started Power 90. I have to do a few modifications but for the most part get thru it OK. I feel stronger and healthier than I have in a long time. I have gotten into a good routine with WOWY and the boards. This is the formula that I have been missing my whole life. Stay tuned cause the results are going to be AMAZING.
